To counter Chargers, humans are better off with Sledgehammers, who shoot single, powerful rockets, but don't have a wide firing angle. But the aliens may set up Chargers, who initially don't shoot, but after absorbing a certain amount of gunfire, they fire off menacing lightning.

The hero squad, for example, has units that can down a tower pretty fast with machine guns, the fire rate increasing the more they shoot. Playing either offense or defense effectively boils down to the same phases: preparation and combat. The face-offs become adrenaline-charged, but with shorts spurts, depending on how well both sides planned out the attack and defense. Get an evenly-matched foe, though, and Anomaly 2 brings out its claws. Without a tutorial for the towers side, it's best to find a friend to practice with first, because you may be defeated in the first two minutes of a match. Unfortunately, I was most often matched against people who had played several more games than I had, so my tower defenses crumbled quickly. There's a short single-player tutorial for the humans, and after that, you can match up against other people in multiplayer. The opposing team-the aliens-places a variety of towers to hinder the squad's progress.

Meanwhile, the commander follows and supports with a few abilities. You design a path for the units on a grid-based map using a zoomed-out tactical view. The humans have a short squad of battle machines along with a squad leader – a commander whom you control. Best Hosted Endpoint Protection and Security SoftwareĪnomaly 2 may have a run-of-the-mill, aliens-have-taken-over-Earth story, but as far as gameplay goes, this tower defense game throws in a multiplayer twist.
